Interesting (but painful) sounds made with a zoom h2 (front mics, low gain) connected to a laptop via usb. The signal was piped to old creative sbs250 spekers with 16ms of latency (i'm using jack audio connection kit and linux). That's how my feedback loop came into existance. I turned up the volume and started to move the mics around, geting a lot of different sounds ranginf from simple tones to strange lfoish sounds. This was recorded as part of a tracking shot for a project i did a few years ago. It starts off from the exterior of a fancy london pub around the primrose hill area, walking in to a fairly packed establishment. It tracks movement into different parts of the pub. A recording made around 7:30pm at night in mid october of 2012 of leaves skittering across an asphalt street, making that unique, crackly sound. You will also hear a train off in the distance which i think adds to the sound-scape of fall. At 1:51 into the recording a car whooshes buy and with it, a cluster of leaves trailing behind it trying in vain to keep up. . . That's always been a wonderful sound sequence for me to hear. Recorded the sounds with a zoom h1n in my apartment. Snare is a flick with my fingers on a wooden door + added snarebuzz in post production to it, kick is a hit with my hand on the wall produced some nice lows. I had to create an another track for just the transient, but essentially made from the same sound. Hihat is the stove's clicking sound with added reverb. Post production made in ableton live lite with mostly the integrated audio effects, but i also used some free plugins to create this drum loop. I hope you enjoy, it's 100% royalty-free.

My keurig coffee maker has been sounding a little rough so i decided to record it with my zoom h1n this morning as it made me a cup of coffee. It's the entire cycle with the general noise of a kitchen. Mainly you can hear my 20 year old fridge humming in the background during the quit parts of the keurig cycle. Don't plan on using it for anything, so have fun with it. The audio from when the coffee starts to pour into my cup is on the left side, so that was pretty cool to listen too on the headphones when i played it back.

This recording was done on a balmy day in early november at the shore of a small lake in southern illinois. Even though it was november, i was in a short-sleeve t-shirt, because of the warm weather that we had been having. However, there was a huge, approaching mass of cold air from canada approaching which resulted in some tremendous, steady winds, gusting up to 40 miles an hour. I literally had my zoom h4n recorder sitting in some sedge-type grasses inches from the lake, which enabled me to get the clear, crisp sound of the wind-driven wages breaking over the small rocks and sticks. Occasionally you will hear a dull roar of the wind, which i was able to decrease a bit using my graphic equalizer, although as you listen to the entire piece you will notice that i just could not eliminate all of the “wind roar”,. Still, i think this is an effective, realistic sound-record of what happens when cold air hits head on with warm air over a lake. A recording made in the shawnee national forest in illinois on the very first day of october, 2022. This recording was made at mid-afternoon and features the peaceful, pleasant wind through the deciduous trees. From time to time though, the soft call of a nuthatch or a chickadee reminds us there is still bird life in the early autumn woods. Birds getting ready, getting stocked up for the upcoming northern assaults of cold air this winter. Some crows really start to put on a show towards the end of this stereo recording. I first turn right out of trail ridge court in streamwood, il, then wait to turn left at the intersection of schaumburg road and south sutton road. I then head north on il route 59. The car is a 1996 chrysler lhs 3. 5l v6 (note the recognizable sound of the creaky chrysler transmission as i slow to a stop). The sex becomes rougher and there is some choking later in the recording. I think this recording was made in 2016 using a zoom h6 and a rode ntg4 mic or possibly the x/y capsule that comes with the recorder. Note on the recording: there seem to be some silences at a couple of points. Something probably happened in the rendering. This sound was created as follows:. -zynaddsubfx free (and insanely amazing) software synthesizer generated simple g tone using a sine-wave adsynth engine- creative sbs 250 speakers played it back distorting the sound naturally and adding some interesting stereo phasing effects (is that caused by analog signal cable being longer for one speaker?)- i was manually changing the volume using the speaker's potentiometer (whitch is dirty and added some interesting noises on the right speaker, and also at peak loudness during the 54th second the right speaker is quiet)- the output was captured by zoom h2's rear mics- and recorded via usb into audacity free audio editing program- i exported the recording as 16-bit flac.

It's a recording of three emtec cd-rs being broken with bare hands. I had 3 audio cd-r that were burned useless. I decided to record their last sounds. You can hear the cds cracking and breaking, me bending them and trying to break them - they were pretty elastic - i had to learn how to crack them. So at first i had some trouble. Around 0:45 you can hear as i'm bending two cds together they squeak and crackle but don't break. This is a failed attempt at sampling a rock drumkit on 6 tracks. The channels are as follows:. 0: oh l1: oh r2: kick3: snare4: room l5: room r. I've captured this into ardour 5. 12 using 3 different audio interfaces:. Behringer umc202hd - overheads (dynamic mics)line 6 pod studio ux2 - kick and snare (condenser + dynamic)zoom h2 - room ambience (built-in xy condenser mics). This file is a 6-channel 24-bit flac file encoded using ffmpeg from the raw wav files exported from the original ardour session. There are several issues with this recording however:. 1. The tracks seem to drift, because the individual audio interface clocks were not in sync. The proper way to record multitrack audio is using a single multichannel audio interface - but i didn't have one. 2. There's either x-runs or some usb transfer issues creating small glitches and dropouts in various tracks her and there. Don't know why did this happen, as we've been tracking the real drummer's performance without these issues. Now - fixing these issues manually would be an insane amount of work, but i hope maybe someone has means to either solve them with programming a special tool, or know a tool that could fix these, and make this recorded session ready to be sliced as a drumkit for say - drumgizmo. There's some really good stuff in here - an i was able to cut and mix some really nice drum samples, that i've been using for years, but it's not ready to be fully sliced for maximum flixibility. The instrument was played by myself - it's a drumset by pearl (don't remember the details), owned by the drummer of a band i recorded this with. The band was called small hint - hence the drumkit name. We were recording an ep, and i used some free time left to capture this as well. The ep was never finished and we disbanded soon after. Regarding fixing the issues - here's what i think needs to be done:. 1. I think each hit would have to be automatically phase-aligned on all 6 channels, to correct for the drift. 2. I think it should be possible to automatically detect clicks by simply watching for a sudden change in amplitude between adjacent samples - marking bad areas and then using something like audacity's repair effect to interpolate the waveforms. I think the glitches have much steeper changes in amplitude than even the drum transients, so it should be possible to differentiate between those automatically. If you found a way to fix at least some of these problems - please let me know!. If you've made some "remixes" on freesound - i'd also love to know that. Apart from that - sample what you can out of this and make some sick drum tracks!.

A late summer soundscape that is a favorite of mine. . Microphones set up in some mature woods about 60 feet from a large lake on labor day weekend. Most of the background is the insects, which are very obvious during this time of year. The swelling of their volume is nap-inducing (*at least to me in my opinion. )here is the midwest this swelling and subsiding of the insect wave tells me that summer is just about starting to go back downhill, after a feverish peak. Despite the covid-19 of the year, nature does not seem to have changed her soundscape. Life goes on in the forests. The birds, whose job of raising young is over, are still there. . . They're just resting and relaxing and listening to the insects as well i'm sure. Now of course you will hear a few prominent birds in this captured moment:(1) a great blue heron squawks out starting at 1:17 into this piece. (2) the alarm call of a red-headed woodpecker can be heard at 2:14. Other than that, just the insects singing their hearts out and the assortment of birds taking secondary place during this time of year. This is the audible annunciation found at all intersections with traffic lights in paris, france. It announces the condition of the traffic lights for pedestrians who are blind or with impaired vision. The annunciation is turned on by pressing a button on the traffic light pole. When the crosswalk sign is red (do not cross), the recorded annunciation is always "rouge piéton" ("red light, pedestrian"), followed by the name of the street that the crosswalk crosses (in this case "rue d'antin," the quiet side street where i recorded this). This repeats over and over until the crosswalk changes to green, at which point there is a two-second trill tone followed by a repeating bell tone. The bell tone is one bell, followed by two bells, repeated four times, followed by a very brief pause, and then the sequence is repeated again. This continues until the crosswalk changes back to red, at which point the "rouge piéton" message resumes. The annunciation continues for at least one cycle of the traffic lights and then stops, unless the button is pressed again. The audio quality of the annunciation is very poor even in real life (it sounds like a wax cylinder recording or something), and can be difficult to understand. This recording accurately captures the poor quality of the annunciation. The volume of the annunciation is also adjusted dynamically based on ambient noise, so there is a slight change in volume on this recording as the system apparently reacts to noise from traffic or something. There is a weak background noise that sounds like some sort of machine, but it wasn't coming from the traffic light and i don't know the source.
